6️⃣⚽️ Gavi, Barcelona's new number 6.

6️⃣⚽️ Gavi, Barcelona's new number 6.

Gavi has officially become a Barcelona first-team player after the High Court of Justice of Catalonia ruled in favour of the club and allowed it to register in LaLiga.

After the process is complete, Barça expect Gavi to make his debut for the club against Betis, wearing the number 6 shirt. He is now officially a Barça first-team player, with his contract, salary and shirt number officially registered .

In September 2022, Gavi signed a renewal with FC Barcelona until 2026 with a release clause of one billion euros. However, due to financial and fair play issues, he could not be registered as a first-team player. For Barça, this has been an urgent matter in this winter transfer market.

TWO SEASONS VISITING THE 30TH

The Barcelona midfielder has represented the first team for two consecutive seasons wearing the number 30 on his shirt. During this time, he has demonstrated his technical quality, ability to anticipate play, collaborative ability and ability to change pace. For the national teams, Gavi wears the number 9 on his shirt, a number normally assigned to a goalscoring centre forward. With this number, Gavi participated in the last World Cup under the then national team manager, Luis Enrique.

Gavi will thus adopt a number that has been worn by legendary footballers such as Migueli, Guillermo Amor, Xavi Hernández (the one who wore it for the most seasons at the club), Denis Suárez, Todibo, Carles Aleñá and Riqui Puig, among others. Since the 2021/22 season, the number '6' has not been used by any player, following the departure of Riqui Puig.
